We take the privacy and security of personal information very seriously. This Privacy Policy and User Agreement describes how the S-Ateen Online Community ("S-Ateen," "our," "we," "us,") collects, uses and protects the information users (“user,” “your,” or “you”) provide to us when using our web site where this policy is posted (the “Site”).  This Privacy Policy applies to the Site and governs data collected and used from the Site.

To better protect your privacy we provide this notice explaining our online information practices and the choices you can make about the way your information is collected and used. To make this notice easy to find, we make it available in our footer and at every point where personally identifiable information may be requested.

Log files are maintained and analyzed of all requests for files on this website's web servers. Log files do not capture personal information but do capture the user's IP address, which is automatically recognized by our web servers.

Collection and Use of Specific Personal Information

We only collect specific personal information when you provide it to us. You may provide specific personal information to us when you register to become a member on the Site.

When you engage in certain activities on our Site, we may ask you to provide specific personal information by filling out and submitting an online form. Depending upon the activity, some of the specific personal information may be mandatory and some may be voluntary.

By entering personal information into the Site you agree to allow S-Ateen to collect, use, and disclose the information for the management of the S-Ateen Online Community programs and efforts, as well as to communicate with you about S-Ateen programs and efforts.

We will primarily use specific personal information to provide our services, as required by our agreements with you. We will also use specific personal information to analyze and enhance the operation of our Sites, improve our service offerings, gather information, and customize our Site content, layout, and services. We may also use specific personal information to resolve disputes, troubleshoot problems, and enforce our agreements with you, including this Privacy Policy.

The specific personal information we gather is de facto limited to a display name and email address. Any other personal information you choose to share is not required nor is it recommended.

Our Commitment to Children's Privacy

We are a 501(c) (3) non-profit organization and are exempt from compliance with the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA).  Nevertheless, we choose to protect the privacy of children under the age of 13 within the spirit of COPPA in a number of ways.

If you are under the age of 13, you need your parent’s permission to use our Site.  Unless we receive your parent’s verifiable consent you may not provide us with any personal information (such as name or email address) on our Site.

If we learn that we have personal information obtained from a child under 13 without the required parental consent, we will delete that information as soon as possible.

The S-Ateen Online Community is particularly aware of privacy issues specific to the collection of personal information of children under the age of 13. In connection with children under the age of 13, this policy explains:

  1. The kinds of personal information S-Ateen collects
  2. How such information is used
  3. How such information is disclosed or shared with third parties

Parents should also be aware of the following in connection with S-Ateen collection and use of their children’s personal information: The S-Ateen Online Community will not knowingly collect specific personal information from children under the age of 13 without first obtaining parental consent.  Prior to providing any specific personal information (other than a name and a parent’s email address) children under the age 13 must have a parent or legal guardian complete, sign, and return (by e-mail or regular mail) a Parental Consent Form to S-Ateen at:

Consent may be revoked by sending a written request to S-Ateen at the email or physical address above.

Parental Choice on the Collection and Use of Information: Parents can review a child’s personal information, ask to have it deleted, and refuse to allow for any further collection or use of the information at any time.  Parents can access, change, or delete a child’s personal information by accessing the child’s account at the Site, or by contacting S-Ateen at the email or physical address above.

For security reasons, S-Ateen will not post a child’s specific address or last name on the Site.

Such changes, modifications, additions, or deletions shall be effective immediately upon notice thereof, which may be given by means including, but not limited to, posting the revised Privacy Policy on our Site. You acknowledge and agree that it is your responsibility to review the Site and this Policy periodically, and to be aware of any modifications. Your continued use of a Site after any such modifications will constitute your; (a) acknowledgment of any modified Policy; and (b) agreement to abide and be bound by any modified Policy. To the extent that any modifications to this Policy materially alters how S-Ateen will use information collected under prior version of the Policy, S-Ateen will provide you notice by email using your email on file, and where required by law, will obtain your consent.
